Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Oil for frying
Chocolate icing
Candy eyes or edible decorations (optional)
Instructions
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk until blended.
Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix to ensure fluffy donuts.
Heat Oil: In a deep pot, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium heat. Use a thermometer to ensure the temperature is around 350°F (175°C).
Shape and Fry: Using a spoon, drop the batter into the hot oil, shaping the donuts with your hands or the spoon. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Drain: Carefully remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Decorate: Once cooled slightly, dip the donuts into chocolate icing and add candy eyes for that creepy touch.
Serve and Enjoy: Present your creepy treats immediately for the best taste and texture!
Notes
Monitor oil temperature carefully and allow donuts to cool slightly before icing to maintain texture.
