Delightful chocolate doughnuts with a rich icing and playful spider web design, perfect for Halloween parties or sweet indulgences.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 oz milk
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk (for icing)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for icing)
  • Purple food coloring
  • 6 oz white melting chocolate
  • Additional piping bag with a small round tip

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a doughnut pan lightly to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine melted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, egg, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  3. Whisk together cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. Combine the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and purple food coloring in a bowl. Stir until smooth.
  8. Dip the cooled doughnuts into the icing and allow to set on the rack.
  9. Melt the white chocolate and transfer to a piping bag. Drizzle over the glazed doughnuts to create a spider web design.

Notes

Don’t overmix the batter. Bake until donuts are just done to prevent dryness. Cool completely before glazing.
